How to evaluate a hotel distribution base

No vendor is named on this page. We break down the five capabilities that decide whether a distribution base works for you, each with the questions to ask and how to verify the answer on the spot — take it to any supplier, including us.

API
Unified supplier interface
RBAC
Scoped permissions
Trace
Request tracing
Test
Validate coverage

Five capabilities

Walk through these line by line

The left column is our answer; the right column is what to ask any supplier, plus how to verify it without trusting a slide.

01

Supply coverage and access

HotelByte provides adapters for Dida, Tourmind, Yalago and Hotelbeds. Actual coverage and available rates depend on credentials, contracts, markets and query conditions; test with your target hotels.

Ask any supplier
  • Of the pre-integrated suppliers, how many actually cover my source markets?
  • Are China and APAC suppliers natively adapted, or resold through another bedbank?
  • Net rates or display rates? At which layer does markup apply?
How to verify

Ask for an auditable supplier list, then run a real hotelList / hotelRates query for your own source markets and check coverage and rate freshness.

02

Integration, delivery and API stability

A unified API handles supplier differences. Onboarding time depends on the partner API, credentials and acceptance scope. Review the API documentation and test rate-limit behavior for your target suppliers.

Ask any supplier
  • What is the standard cycle to onboard a new supplier?
  • Is there a sandbox, concurrency benchmark and error-code spec?
  • On upstream timeout or 429, does it queue, degrade, or fail the call?
How to verify

Run your peak QPS against the sandbox and read the latency percentiles and error rate; deliberately trip a rate limit and watch whether backoff stays controlled.

03

White label, B2B entity and credit architecture

Platform, tenant, customer and customer-account entities form a hierarchy with scoped access and RBAC. Verify credit and settlement boundaries with representative accounts and transaction records.

Ask any supplier
  • Is the multi-tier agency model physically isolated or filtered at query time?
  • Can credit be authorized and frozen independently per tier?
  • Can billing be issued and reconciled per downstream account?
How to verify

Ask for a white-label demo, then use a downstream account to try reading upstream data or editing upstream credit; also reconcile a real tiered invoice sample.

04

Full-linkage observability and diagnostics

Session context helps correlate search, booking and supplier interactions. Visible payloads, latency and retention depend on deployment configuration and account permissions.

Ask any supplier
  • When something breaks, can I see the full chain for that one request?
  • Can I read the supplier raw response, or only my own layer logs?
  • How long are logs and payloads retained, and are they addressable by traceId?
How to verify

Hand over a real logId / traceId and ask them to reconstruct the incident timeline on the spot, supplier response and latency included.

05

Price intelligence and revenue strategy

Lookout monitors net rates: TDengine time-series storage holds the query facts, distributed crawling handles high-concurrency comparison, and rate-limit hits degrade gracefully. RevenuePilot turns strategy into draft → pre-publish simulation → server-issued evidence → governed save.

Ask any supplier
  • Does comparison capture public rates or real net rates, and how fresh are they?
  • Can a strategy be simulated before publishing, and who issues the simulation result?
  • Who can change pricing, and is every change audited and reversible?
How to verify

Run a coverage check over a batch of hotels and dates and read coverage, latency and refresh cadence; then ask for one sample of server-issued simulation evidence.

On-site checklist

Five moves that settle most questions

None of these need extra work from the vendor — just ask. If you cannot get one, that is the answer.

  1. 01

Get a sandbox account you can actually write to

Read-only demos hide quotas, rate limits and error handling. Run one checkAvail and one book on your own credentials.

  2. 02

Run real rate queries for your own source markets

Coverage, rate freshness and net price levels are the foundation of the business; demo data proves nothing.

  3. 03

Ask them to replay one real traceId

Diagnostics can only be demonstrated on a real incident: supplier raw response, per-hop latency, root-cause reasoning.

  4. 04

    Attempt one cross-tenant access

Whether the agency hierarchy is truly isolated shows fastest when a downstream account tries to read upstream data.

  5. 05

Ask for a tiered invoice and settlement sample

Credit, freeze, deduction and reconciliation are the financial core of distribution; a sample beats a slide.

  6. 06

Put the SLA and rate-limit terms on paper

If rate-limit thresholds, degradation commitments and remedies are not in the contract, incidents become a matter of opinion.

Questions that come up during evaluation

How do I verify a distributor really covers my source markets?

Ask for an auditable supplier list, then run a real hotelList / hotelRates query for your own source markets on a sandbox account. Check the coverage rate against the hotels you actually sell, the freshness of the returned rates, and whether the price is a net rate or a display rate.

What should I check before trusting a white-label claim?

Run a white-label demo under your own domain, then use a downstream account to try reading upstream data or editing upstream credit. Confirm whether the agency hierarchy is physically isolated or filtered at query time, and whether billing can be issued and reconciled per downstream account.

What is AI-native hotel distribution?

AI-assisted hotel distribution can help investigate operational data within defined permissions. Test it with an approved business question, a restricted account, and a comparison against underlying records.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation scope and timing depend on supplier credentials, API behavior, account structure and testing. Ask for a written plan with the suppliers and workflows you actually need.

How do I judge incident diagnostics?

Hand over a real logId / traceId and ask for the incident timeline: supplier raw response, per-hop latency, and the root-cause reasoning. If the vendor can only show its own layer logs, cross-party troubleshooting stays manual.

How is HotelByte priced?

Pricing depends on the agreed scope and commercial terms. Request a written proposal for your supplier access, transaction volume and support needs.

Does HotelByte support B2B agency hierarchies?

The platform models tenants, customers and customer accounts with scoped permissions and credit configuration. Verify your intended hierarchy and accounting boundaries with representative accounts.

Can HotelByte run on-premise?

The appliance is positioned for on-premises AI. Confirm supported models, hardware and data-governance controls in a target-environment demonstration before purchase.

Bring this list to us

With a sandbox account you can run real rate queries for your markets, load-test the API, and ask for a traceId replay — and we are happy for you to take the same list to other suppliers.
