The latest release time is not a reminder on the inventory calendar. It decides how long a group block is protected, when transient inventory may take over, how supplier commitments stay intact, and whether revenue can keep room between giving up too early and gambling too late.
In the Thursday cell of an availability calendar, a thin vertical line says Release by 16:00. On its left sits a group allotment block. On the right, transient inventory is still closed. Under the cell are meeting rate, guaranteed room nights, cancellation window, and the commercial owner’s name. It looks like a reminder. Move that line, though, and the whole night changes its story.
Groups need certainty. Channels need sellable space.
